This WEEK WE WATCHED WILLOW and WEDNESDAY. The two shows, released respectively by Disney+ and Netflix couldn’t be more different. Willow is a follow up to the 1988 film of the same name. Wednesday is the most recent offshoot of the Addams Family franchise whose lineage goes back to Charles Addam’s cartoons dating from the late 1930s. While both are legacy properties, one seems to have a bit more life in it than the other. Without getting too deep into spoiler territory, let’s just say the odds against the Regular Joe’s achieving consensus on these series was pretty high. Barry has loved Willow since seeing it as a child/young adult. Dave, who has referred to Willow as “the worst film ever,” also harbors an endless pit of bile for director Tim Burton who is deeply involved with Wednesday. Tod doesn’t really have a dog in the hunt, but watched all available episodes because, well, he’s Tod. If you’re curious how all this plays out you should listen. You may be surprised.
